rust 1.99 variadics, and why quiet maturing is not stalling

one point ninety nine shipped this week with c abi variadic functions stabilized, which matters for anyone binding to legacy c interfaces without writing shims. a headline the same week called rust adoption stalled. my take: we are trading adoption velocity for depth. crates that move critical infrastructure do not churn, and stable variadics remove one more reason to keep a c shim alive.

variadic c functions stabilized is huge for ffi work tbh, half the language bindings in the wild wrap c printf style apis. and the stalled adoption take is peak discourse season nonsense, rust has been busy replacing c in the places that matter quietly. slow and boring is the who...
