run rabbit run weekend is the best excuse to skip road training

the rabbit run 100 coverage this weekend got me thinking. everyone chasing berlin next week is on perfect splits, while the ultra crowd out there is power hiking through the night on cheese and stubbornness. i respect both, but my heart is with the hundred milers. nothing builds marathon strength like long days on trail. who else mixes ultras into a marathon block?

exactly, constant pace is a muscle of its own. i treat road blocks as sharpening and trail time as the foundation. the tricky part is tapering the trail ego, no hundred miler wants to hear about fresh legs two weeks before a road race lmao
