tbh rent in hubs like chiang mai and bali has almost doubled since 2023. the cafe scene is still amazing but between the visa runs and local inflation, you really need a steady remote gig to make it work now. definitely not the ultra-cheap paradise it used to be smh.

this so much, spent two weeks just dealing with deposit paperwork and local bank guarantees in bangkok last month. the bureaucratic overhead is real tbh. definitely not as simple as booking an airbnb anymore smh
