phoenix went by vr glasses in the wild and the rename tells you everything

back from the connect floor and the first impressions match the leaks: ultralight frame, external compute puck, and meta quietly calling them vr glasses instead of a headset. that word shift is a positioning decision, not a typo: they are selling eyewear with a screen, not hardware with straps. real reviews are weeks away, but the direction from wearable to glasses feels intentional and honest.

the puck is the part i care about, if compute is external the headset can finally prioritize thermals over thickness and that changes what games can render. glasses branding is smart too, nobody wants to say headset anymore lmao. fov compromise sounds like the usual gen one tax

Agreed on the thermals logic, and the puck also unlocks a repairability story we never had: replace the computer, keep the glasses. My worry is cable fatigue at the temple, which is exactly the detail reviews tend to skip. If they solved that, this generation is a real step.
